National Disability Institute (NDI) is seeking a motivated individual with subject matter expertise on public disability benefits to join NDI as a Training and Technical Assistance (TA) Manager. This position will provide cross-project support to NDI’s projects and initiatives serving as a subject matter expert on publicly funded disability benefits, other publicly funded benefits (such as SNAP, TANF, Section 8, and others), available work supports, favorable tax provisions, ABLE accounts and the interplay of these anti-poverty measures with opportunities to earn, save, and build wealth.
Responsibilities & Duties
Including, but not limited to:
- Ensure the accuracy of information in all NDI generated materials and communications with and between national partners/funders and state and local level partners.
- Provide training and technical assistance to support individual learning on public benefits as a component of an individual’s financial resources to internal and external parties.
- Provide technical assistance and training to support organizational commitment to serve people with disabilities, including those who receive one or more public benefit.
- Develop responsive multi-modal training and technical assistance to include webinar trainings, learning opportunities and supportive material development.
- Prepare presentation materials and provide direct ABLE education
- Provide content to customized self-paced web-based trainings that meet the needs of the systems or agencies for which they are designed.
- Identify and share promising practices from the field that foster economic and employment opportunities for beneficiaries.
- Engage in self-development activities to maintain and update professional knowledge and skills in areas of subject matter expertise and to expand awareness and knowledge level into new areas as directed by NDI.
- Coordinate and collaborate, as appropriate, with both internal and external projects/partners to augment available support and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
Qualifications
- Established CWIC Certification from VCU or comparable demonstration of benefits expertise.
- Favorable Suitability Clearance from the Center for Suitability and Personnel Security (CSPS). If not current, be able to obtain favorable Suitability Clearance from the Center for Suitability and Personnel Security (CSPS) within 3 months of hire date.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: disability benefits, public benefits, and work supports.
- Minimum ten years of experience advising beneficiaries and/or professionals on how their work activity could impact Social Security disability cash benefits (SSDI and/or SSI), Medicare and/or Medicaid, as well as, private health insurance, SNAP (Food Stamps), subsidized housing, unemployment, workers compensation benefits, insurance benefits, TANF, Veterans benefits and other Federal, State and Local benefits.
- Demonstrated success in developing and managing projects.
- Experience developing and providing training and technical assistance, to include preparing and providing presentations in multiple formats along with complementary materials.
- System experience in aligning resources and expertise with the customer experience in mind.
- Capable and comfortable with presenting and public speaking, both virtually and in-person.
- Able to travel when needed.
- Proficient with technology, including online learning platforms. NDI utilizes the following tech tools: Microsoft Office Suite, Monday.com, SalesForce, YesLMS, Canva, Zoom, and BaseCamp.
- Able to meet NDI’s expectations of all staff, to include attention to detail, problem-solving skills, effective oral and written communication skills, high comfort working on multiple projects simultaneously, self-motivated and self-disciplined, flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances and able to work both independently and with a team.

LOCATION OF WORK:
This is a full-time remote position. The standard work hours are 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM ET Monday through Friday. Hours may be negotiable based on location. This position may require additional time commitments outside of a typical workday to complete all tasks. This position will require travel – at least six trips per year.
