Funder: Illinois Developmental Disabilities Council

The proposed project will equip Texans with developmental disabilities and their families to develop knowledge and make informed choices about employment, the use of limited public benefits, Social Security work supports and opportunities for protected savings. Major aspects of the project include 1) in-person focus groups to assess knowledge gaps and commonly held myths and fears; 2) assessment of existing training tools available by NDI and other select organizations; 3) knowledge translation via webinar series, 3-minute videos, and 30-second trainings, and an online training program, to support this objective over a two year period; and 4) self-paced online training program on how individuals can maintain eligibility for public benefit programs while increasing their income and assets through gainful employment.
