Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

National Disability Institute (NDI) is seeking a motivated, creative, and detail-oriented Marketing & Digital Communications Intern to support the organization’s national marketing, digital communications, and brand initiatives. This internship provides hands-on experience in digital marketing, graphic design, website management, and accessible communications while contributing to campaigns that advance financial empowerment for people with disabilities.
This role is ideal for a college student or recent graduate pursuing marketing, communications, graphic design, digital media, or a related field who is looking to build professional experience in nonprofit marketing and digital strategy. Working closely with the Marketing & Communications team, the intern will help create engaging digital content, support website updates in WordPress, develop graphics for social media and email marketing, and assist with multimedia communications projects. The intern will also gain valuable experience implementing brand standards, learning accessible design practices, and supporting integrated marketing campaigns across multiple digital channels.
Digital Content & Graphic Design
- Design graphics and visual assets for social media, email campaigns, websites, blogs, presentations, and digital marketing initiatives using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design platforms.
- Assist in creating branded marketing materials including infographics, event graphics, promotional flyers, digital advertisements, and presentation templates.
- Resize, optimize, and format images for web and social media while maintaining brand consistency.
- Support basic video editing and creation of short-form multimedia content for digital campaigns.
Website & WordPress Support
- Update and maintain website content within WordPress, including publishing pages, blog posts, news articles, images, and downloadable resources.
- Assist with website quality assurance by reviewing content for formatting, broken links, usability, and accessibility.
- Help optimize web content for readability, search engine optimization (SEO), and user experience.
- Support implementation of digital accessibility best practices, including WCAG and Section 508 standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Experience using Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, or Express).
- Experience with HubSpot or CRM tool.
- Familiarity with WordPress content management systems.
- Understanding of major social media platforms and current digital marketing trends.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Basic knowledge of email marketing platforms such as HubSpot or Mailchimp is preferred.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Interest in nonprofit communications, digital accessibility, and mission-driven marketing.

This is a part-time, fully remote position. NDI is anchored by the Eastern time zone. Applicants from other time zones are expected to reasonably align their work schedule with their supervisor.
