Every year, thousands of farm workers are injured. According to the National Safety Council, agriculture is the most hazardous industry in the United States. Join National Disability Institute for a free, one-hour webinar featuring Tess McKeel from National AgrAbility / Goodwill of the Finger Lakes and Heather Chauncey, from the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health, as they share information about their farming, ranching, and agricultural support services. Their resources, including the provision of assistive technology can reduce injuries associated with working long hours, using heavy equipment and chemicals.
National Disability Institute’s Assistive Technology Loan Program provides referrals for grants and funding to cover the cost of AT when possible. For those who need to purchase or refinance their purchase of assistive technology, affordable loans are available for residents of New Jersey and New York. NDI’s AT Loan Program offers the opportunity to apply for a loan up to $45,000 at 4% interest for the purchase or refinance of assistive technology (as of 2024). Lending terms are favorable, helping loan recipients develop or improve their credit and save money.
