National Disability Institute (NDI) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payments Manager to support NDI’s American Dream Employment Network (ADEN). ADEN is an approved Employment Network operating under the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work program. The ADEN Payments Manager should be familiar with the Ticket to Work program, detail-orientated, initiative-taking and prepared to work within a sophisticated web-based portal. The Payments Manager works closely with the ADEN Director and other project staff to ensure timely and accurate payments between Social Security and NDI and between NDI and our ADEN Members. The Payments Manager serves as NDI’s in-house expert on Ticket payments and shares that knowledge with our ADEN Members through individual and group training and technical assistance activities. This position offers the opportunity to directly impact the lives of program participants while ensuring accurate and timely payments through the Ticket to Work program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Including, but not limited to:

  • Complete all tasks related to Ticket to Work payments, including but not limited to:
    • Ongoing review of possible payments per instructions from SSA.
    • Request payments through SSA Ticket portal by completing all the required steps as instructed by SSA and Ticket Program Manager.
    • Post payment information in the ADEN portal, following ADEN procedures and practices.
    • Follow up on payment decisions with SSA and establish plans for overpayments.
    • Conduct daily quality assurance of payments received from SSA and monthly quality assurance reviews with NDI Accounting Department.
    • Collect and verify information from ADEN Members related to Payment Authorization, direct deposit, and IRS forms.
    • Provide training to ADEN Members about payments and any related information, such as collection of paystubs. Serve as lead for the ADEN Office Hours specific to EN Payments.
    • Coordinate the distribution of payments with NDI Accounting Department and report to NDI Director, as requested.
  • Build and maintain your Ticket payments knowledge by attending all meetings and training provided by SSA about Payments and other EN operational instructions.
  • Support ADEN Team in the following work areas:
    • Provide input to ADEN business operations and participate in ADEN team meetings.
    • Assists with Member performance and/or collects data regarding payments, as requested by ADEN Director.
    • Assists ADEN Team with marketing plan and related activities as requested by ADEN Director.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while utilizing exemplary verbal and nonverbal interpersonal and professional communication skills.
  • Complete assignments in a timely manner, and appropriately self-evaluate progress toward completion of work goals.
  • Engage in self-development activities to maintain and update professional knowledge and skills in areas of subject matter expertise and to expand awareness and knowledge level into new areas related to Ticket to Work, employment, and disability.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily. Requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform each key responsibility.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in vocational rehabilitation, political science, social science, sociology, public administration, or a related field of study.
  • 3+ years’ experience with disability employment services or direct experience working with people with disabilities.
    • Direct experience with the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work program preferred.
  • Experience with disability employment services or Ticket to Work or direct experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Experience providing technical assistance and training to external parties.
    • Experience relevant to Employment Network or Ticket to Work preferred.
  • Must be currently certified, or willing to become certified, as a Work Incentive Practitioner or equivalent and adhere to requirement to maintain certification (preference given to those with current certification).
  • Must be able to pass and maintain Social Security Administration Suitability and Security Clearance (proof of suitability by the Social Security Administration).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams, plus experience with Zoom platform.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and able to conduct mathematical computations including multiplication, division, and averages.
  • Experience with common business activities and tasks, including ability to create in excel, prepare comprehensive reports and information when requested.
  • Experience using customized database or Client Relationship Management product, including posting data.
  • Able to multi-task and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement improvements to streamline work processes.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written; demonstrating professionalism, courtesy, and respect to a range of audiences.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management skills; able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
