Assistive technology (AT) is helping to connect us to others and live more independently within our communities. Sometimes there is a learning curve before things get easier, but AT can help to make things safer and help us to maintain an active lifestyle. Connecting with experts from the field of assistive technology provision can help us try out, select, borrow and purchase AT that best meets our needs.
National Disability Institute’s AT Loan program welcomes Melinda Dolezal, Director of the New York TRAID Program to share information about their newest AT services available including:
• 3D printing initiative;
• Telehealth video project;
• Alzheimer’s Disease Assistance Center’s Caregiver Support Initiative (CSI)
• Broome County’s Blueway Trail System Project
National Disability Institute’s Assistive Technology Loan Program provides referrals for grants and funding to cover the cost of AT when possible. For those who need to purchase or refinance their purchase of assistive technology, affordable loans are available for residents of New Jersey and New York. NDI’s AT Loan Program offers the opportunity to apply for a loan up to $45,000 at 4% interest for the purchase or refinance of assistive technology. Lending terms are favorable, helping loan recipients develop or improve their credit and save money.
