Biography
Michael Roush, M.A., AFC®, CPWIC, is the Director of the Center for Disability-Inclusive Community Development at National Disability Institute, where he leads national efforts to advance financial empowerment and inclusion for people with disabilities. With expertise spanning financial education, counseling, public benefits, tax credits, employment, housing, guaranteed basic income and community development, Michael is a trusted trainer and advisor known for making complex financial topics accessible and actionable.
He is the co-author of nationally implemented financial education and asset-building curricula, including Financial Wellness for People with Disabilities (NDI), Achieving Financial Independence with Special Olympics and Bank of America, and Financial Inclusion Essentials (AFCPE). Michael has trained more than 3,000 practitioners, equipping organizations with practical strategies to expand financial inclusion for people with disabilities within their service delivery.
Earlier in his career, he advanced entrepreneurship opportunities for individuals with disabilities as a consultant with the University of South Florida and managed the disability navigation programs with WorkNet Pinellas.
Today, he continues shaping the field as a Board Member of the Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education (AFCPE), a member of the Bank On Suncoast Task Force, and a 16-year volunteer with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. He holds a Master of Arts in Human Behavior, is an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®), and a certified Community Partner Work Incentives Coordinator.
